Earlier life and DMC5 era

**Trigger Warning: Self harm, abuse

Earlier days, her family and marriage

‘’…l have never seen anyone fight so hard for so little in return.”

Morgana was born into an abusive family of humans and vessels. She was an human anchor bound to a predatory shadow creature, forced to trade pieces of her own humanity for the dark, parasitic power keeping them both alive in exchange of creature’s powers. She inherited that mission from her grandmother, her grandmother's soul was bounded to a shadow creature and used their power for selfish missions. When her parents discovered her abilities, they feared that she would turn out like her grandmother and took her away, hiding her true nature and gifts from her. Morgana grew up unaware of her powers until shadow creature Sole summoned after a matter of life and death. Despite her family's manipulation and abuse, her natural curiosity for dark arts remained.

As growing up Morgana developed an interest in the dark arts as result of her nature, oblivious from her true abilities. Her ability to see visions fo past remained in her nightmares like a curse. Growing up as the older sibling in an abusive family, she was constantly mistreated and neglected because of who she is and what she is capable of, which left a lasting impact on her personality. Gaslighting, lack of love and respect slowly eroded her sense of identity, and the weight of her family's manipulations made her feel like she wasn't really herself anymore. Lost in the shadows of her family and her own identity, she married her childhood sweetheart in hopes of finding solace and love, left away everthing behind, the days she spoke with souls were long forgotten, dark arts remained only a hobby, she was only a young woman who tried to get away from her abusive family. Soon enough, she got pregnant with that her husband's true colors revealed themselves, and he started to treat her just like her family had. Morgana’s sadness bring her visions back to the point she can’t ignore them anymore. Her husband's manipulations incrased equally. Marriage came undone when accusations of witchcraft, manipulation, and abuse arose from her husband. The weight of the abuse, in addition to the pain of her husband's infidelity, caused Morgana to lose the last remaining shreds of her identity and sense of self-respect.

After that, with nothing left of herself, Morgana got a divorce. Her former husband, who believed that her 'cursed being' would harm their child eventually, managed to keep custody of their child. With her identity and "being cursed" and fearing she would harm their child. She was unwanted once again. She belonged to nowhere when she desperately wanted to belong somewhere.

Second chance in life

‘’I’ve got that, you lost a lot. But you haven’t lost everything; you still have yourself’’-Maximilian Fleur to Morgana

Alone and desperate, she sought to escape her pain by ending her life, but she was stopped by the unexpected interference of a complete stranger named Maximilian Fleur in a rainy night, middle of a bridge. Maximilian was a kind-hearted person who seemed to genuinely care about Morgana's well-being. He didn't pity her, but instead, he understood her pain and offered her comfort, he walked in similar path, he knew how to feel like being lost, ending up nothing but yourself.

Morgana stayed with him for a brief period, and he took care of her until he believed she was much better off than when he found her.

Before parting ways, the pair made a promise to each other. Max insisted that Morgana needed to live and find a reason to do so, even though neither of them knew what that reason might be. Despite her uncertainty, Morgana agreed to the promise, finding a flicker of hope in the kindness of a stranger. Max was first part of Morgana's found family. Thus, Morgana's journey as a wandering scavenger began. Taking inspiration from her encounter with Maximillian, she set out to emulate the kindness and compassion he had shown her. She traveled from place to place, collecting artifacts, returning to learning dark arts, fortunetelling… she took any jobs she could find to survive and living her now unfettered nomadic life. Though she never stayed in one place for long, she always carried the promise she made to herself of finding a true purpose in life. As she interacted with people along the way, she found herself drawn to the topic of dark arts and witchcraft, it was in her nature, she was returning her nature without realizing it. Even she give her abilities and talent to her own hard work for now.

Meeting with V and losing V

"He almost wants to laugh,or scoff, maybe. The notion that this was where he'd end up; in a place shared with a woman who feels like a force of nature. It would almost be comedic if it didn't send a surge of warmth through his chest.” - V thinking about Morgana

As Morgana traveled through Redgrave, her curiosity and lack of self-preservation led her to search for demonic artifacts. Fate intervened when she stumbled upon V, weary. Despite V's protests, Morgana insisted on helping him, she was curious and ‘’helping’’ was only a half lie. Her bluntness and stubborn yet naive nature intrigued him, even though he was initially skeptical. He eventually allowed her to linger by his side, and an unlikely companionship began to form.

Despite V's attempts to reject her help, Morgana insisted to help him on his journey. They quickly fell into a dynamic of banter and bickering, and Morgana found herself drawn to V's snarky attitude and their back-and-forth banter. Over time, she found herself falling in love with him.

Morgana wasn't oblivious, she knew "V" wasn't his real identity, but she didn't push the issue, dynamic was still fragile between them. They both understood their feelings for each other without needing to explicitly talking about it, even V still concerned about Morgana's feelings after he return as Vergil. However, as Morgana's feelings grew stronger, she eventually confronted about his secrets. He revealed everything to her, telling that if he lived and became Vergil again he believed she would hate him. Morgana, however, assured hım that she would wait for him l, no matter what happens. After a short period of stolen moments together, V left to his mission, and Morgana was left unsure of what would happen next.

Morgana remained in between Capulet and Redgrave, waiting patiently for V's return. During this time, she used her witchcraft to help the local civilians, yet still oblivious from her identity, she was mostly using her knowlage what she learned from artifacts she gathered. After some time; she stumbled to Nero and Nico’s van. She approached Nero without knowing reality about his father and they struck a deal; Morgana would get demon limbs for her witchcraft in exchange of help Nico to enchanging Devil Bringers to make them long lasting. Nico and Nero quickly took her in their group and obviously Morgana became friends with her beloved’s son.Despite hoping for V's return, she slowly accepted the possibility that he wouldn't come back. She found solace and purpose in helping others, and learned how to live with her grief. One night, as Morgana slept, she suddenly felt a presence watching her in the house she once shared with V - it was Vergil, who had finally returned.

Vergil; a new story begins

"...the world truly passed him by for years...but he had something to return before he could even consider settling in. Someone who kept waiting for him. The one he tried to let go from his mind during his time in Underworld so he wouldn't feel any distraction...how ironic…He had to know if she still loved him, if the fire once burned so strongly still smoldered, waiting to be rekindled...He had to see her again...He just had to.” - Vergil on Morgana’s door

As Vergil returned to the house he and Morgana had shared, he struggled with his guilt, convinced that he didn't deserve her after all that had happened. Yet he couldn't stay away, and the house remained the only place he could call his own. When Morgana awakened and found a stranger in her home, he revealed that he was once V.

Despite his internal struggle, Vergil couldn't deny his own feelings for her any longer. Moved by her unwavering love, despite the pain and grief he had caused, he decided to stay. They agreed to work on rebuilding their relationship, with Morgana needing time to understand Vergil's true nature as himself, separate from his past as V, while Vergil needed to open up more to her. Through patience and their shared stubbornness, their bond grew stronger, and eventually they found themselves unable to be separated. Yet their story far from end; no, it was only beggining. A familiar named Sole (who later on they discovers it bounded to Morgana's soul/Morgana is Sole’s vessel) , a little girl named Dawn, Morgana and Vergil’s haunting past waiting for them.

There was demons to hunt, truths needs to be discovered, identities needed to be discovered, and most importantly bonds needed to rebuilt. But one thing was certain; none of them was alone anymore.

"They were two solitary souls who had no one but each other to call their own.”

Post DMC5

Fragile beginnings

"You've always been irritating, stubborn, and loud and you've never had an ounce of subtlety in your entire life… ...Do you think I would've tolerated any of this for so long if I didn't want you to be exactly as you are?" - Vergil to Morgana

Morgana and Vergil's first days together were... complicated, to say the least. They argued, of course. Clashed over past wounds and future fears. But neither walked away. When Vergil tried to walk away, to hide from love makes him vulnerable, she pulled him back. They carved a space where Vergil could reconcile his missions with her presence, and where Morgana learned to trust that love didn't require her to vanish. They both learned to be exist as themselves, supporting each other to became their better selves.

Progress was slow. For a while, things almost felt... lighter. Months in, Morgana's nightmares crescendoed; uninvited, uncontrolled. She saw everything: Vergil's childhood scars, Dante's struggles, even the grief of people she'd barely met. Their pain played behind her eyelids like a cursed film reel. The more she cared for them, the louder the visions screamed. And she had no idea how to stop them.

Visions as vows

‘’You two are literally the weirdest couple ever." - Nero

For years, Vergil was the only one who knew the weight of Morgana's nightmares. What began as fractured sleep became something else entirely; shared visions. Memories not hers flickered between them: the stark loneliness of Vergil's childhood, the sting of abandonment, the quiet rage of a man who oncebelieved himself unworthy of love. But with every revelation came something unexpected: forgiveness. Not the grand, dramatic kind, but the slow, quiet sort; woven into whispered confessions at 3 AM, into the way Vergil's hand would tighten around hers when she gasped awake. Morgana carried the pasts of everyone she loved inside her skull like jagged heirlooms. Vergil scoured ancient texts and demonic lore for answers, but the cause eluded him. Time passed. Years, not months. Dante,of all people, became her unlikely ally. Their bond was sibling-shaped, forged in mutual sarcasm and shared habits. And then-home. Not just a house, but a dynamic. Vergil, who once saw permanence as weakness, now left his books scattered on her side of the desk.Morgana, who once folded herself small, now argued with him over tea strength and which way the swords should hang on the wall.

One evening, Vergil did not kneel. There was no ring when he proposes to her. And for once, things were good.

Flames of the past

"Dear God, can you lift me up? Keep me from the fire?’’

The marriage license changed nothing and everything. Their bond had been sealed in shared scars long before ink touched paper. Vergil, now fighting alongside Dante, balanced duty with something almost like peace. Morgana, meanwhile, buried herself in witchcraft and runes- grueling, meticulous work, but hers. The Fortuna crew still called, much to Nero's exasperation and Nico's delight. Then came the unplanned but not unwanted news. Pregnancy. Neither had dared dream of parenthood again, not when they were still learning to exist as themselves.

Yet the moment the words left the doctor's lips, something softened. It was a beautiful day. Until her past ripped it open. Mid-errand, her vision hazed white. The world tilted; then fire. Heat licked her skin as ropes bit into her wrists. Smoke coiled in her lungs, but it was the figure stepping through the flames that stopped her heart; her brother, the ghost she'd buried years ago, smiled down at her.

Morgana had never felt this fragile. Not even the day Maximilian saved her. But now, her brother, now a man, stood in front of her; blaming her for the family's anguish. He was on a mission to find the witch “haunting" them. Her family's hatred had hunted her across lifetimes, and now it wore her brother's face. Shadows ripped from her skin consuming the air itself. Flames turned to claws, to teeth, to a screaming void that ate, when it faded, only bones and ash remained. Morgana collapsed, only one who remained between siblings. Through the smoke, a pair of glowing red eyes watched; Sole. A creature, ancient demon in feline form.

Vergil found her there: half-alive, kneeling in the cathedral of her own vengeance.

The Awakening

"Mother warned me:'We are lanterns; burning bright so the dark choses us.' But I was hungry. Power tastes sweeter than bread.’’- notes from Morgana’s grandmother’s journal

Vergil had said nothing when he found her in the ashes. Only bandaged her burns with hands steadier than his expression, his eyes flickering to the black cat with red eyes who always watching; Sole now a watchful black cat. The demon's power is older than anything he's encountered. Morgana decided to take a journey where she knew her grandmother were. They travel to her grandmother's ruined home to uncover the truth behind her lineage-and Sole's presence.

When they finally reached her grandmother's ruined house they found the truth. Tattered journals. A silver-edged dagger (which will be Morgana’s choice of weapon from that moment) its hilt carved with sigils of binding. Scrolls so brittle they crumbled at a touch; yet their words survived: "The Bargain of Blood. The First Vessel. The Price." Piece by piece, the horror took shape:Long ago, a woman; wronged, furious, hungry, had called upon a fading creature; Sole. That what named her, A creature of shadow and hunger, weakened by time but still potent enough to deal. A woman of their line-wronged and wrathful-pledged her bloodline to Sole in exchange for power. Not just her life, but every daughter's life after; Each vessel used Sole's gifts until the demon drained them dry, then leaped to the next woman in the lineage when she found another strong vessel who won’t crumble easily… So Sole hadn't emerged to save Morgana out of kindness. The rage that summoned her that night was the same fury that fueled their pact vengeance was the key. Morgana sank to her knees. She'd never had a choice. Her magic, her visions, even her pain were threads in a tapestry woven long before her birth. But Morgana wasn’t her old resigned self; she have things to lost, reason to fight. She would find to a way to get rid of Sole before it consume child she carry too or else she will control this power before it drains her, she decided.

Fight for control

‘’It's in my nature, I'm a hell-raiser Till the bitter end, I fight for control’’

Fear lived in Morgana's bones now. Vergil scoured every forbidden text, every demonic contract-but the answer was always the same: Severing the bond would sever her soul. So they adapted. If she was bound to this ancient shadow, she would own it. Sole never spoke. Only watched, her feline form slinking through rooms like an omen. But under Vergil's ruthless training, Morgana's power bloomed: • Portals torn open with a flick of her wrist. Memories walked through like ghostly halls. • Shadows that strangled minds or scried across continents. She was (could be) one of the most dangerous creatures alive.

For eight months, they carved stability from the chaos. Then, Dawn was born; small, squalling, miraculous. Sole's reaction was instant: the demon curled around the bassinet like a living barricade, her crimson gaze daring even Vergil to step closer. Protective. Obsessed. Morgana told herself it was a mercy; Sole wouldn't let harm come to Dawn. But trust was a fraying rope. Every time Dawn latched to her breast, Morgana counted the days until she'd be unnecessary. Until Sole's patience snapped.

Only Dante noticed the tremor in her hands when they shared drinks on the porch. He never asked. Just clinked his bottle against hers, the silence louder than any elegy.

The demon who hesitated

‘’I hear your tears at night As I hear the storm howling Losing my child, taken by the tide Nowhere to hide, I don't know’’

The moment Morgana weaned Dawn, Sole moved. It was slow at first; a heaviness in Morgana's lungs, a numbness in her fingertips, as if her very blood turned to shadow. Then came the pulling, the sensation of something vital unspooling from her core. Sole was detaching. Dying, Morgana fought. Not with magic, not with curses, but with the raw, screaming desperation of a woman who had just learned how to live. She clawed at the bond like a wounded animal, teeth bared against the dark. and Sole paused. For the first time in centuries, the ancient demon hesitated. Here was a vessel unlike the others: one who clung to life not for vengeance, but for love.A woman who had only just found warmth in Vergil's arms, purpose in Dawn's laughter. A flicker of something almost like respect. Then silence followed. The shadows stilled. When Morgana gasped back into her body, she found Sole curled at the foot of Dawn's crib, watching. Waiting. The message was clear: "You have time. But not forever." As for Dawn? Sole's crimson eyes gleamed with something new. The child was different; not just a vessel, but something more. Half-demon, half-bloodline, with a soul too fierce to simply use.
